Update

I'm on day 23 of my candida cleanse.  The thing that I've noticed more than anything is the extreme tiredness I feel!  I did feel kind of icky on a couple of days too.  As for candida leaving my body, I haven't had anything extreme manifest itself--unless it showed up as thrush in my mouth, I'm not sure I would recognize a cleanse.  I can't say that I'm feeling better.  I don't function well when I'm extremely tired.  (Who does?)  Emotionally and energetically I'm still low.  I have to say, I've had a difficult time getting the four doses into my day, especially when I'm out or working.  I know I could fix that by doing some pre-planning. However...I'm still determined to see this through.

One positive, I have lost some inches and weight.

Candida Cleanse

Today marks the first day of a candida cleanse.  This has been a problem for me for probably around 13 years.  I've tried different cleanses, but part of my problem has been inconsistency in my diet--too much sugar for one, so the candida has flared back up.

This time I hope to eradicate it for good!  This program is a 45 day program.  I will post my progress here.

I have been off my eating program and my body measurements show it.  I know getting rid of the yeast and all that it contributes to will help tremendously.  It's amazing how far-reaching this problem actually is!

Looking forward to feeling a lot better!

Doing Better

I'm doing better this week.  One thing I have added to my diet is coconut oil.  For me, especially where I am without a gall bladder, it is a very beneficial oil.  I am adding just one tablespoon for now, but may add more later.  I know it will benefit my thyroid.  I find it amazing that here in Florida where it is so humid, my skin is so dry.  I'm hoping the coconut oil will help.  I will post the benefits of coconut oil at a later time.

I also did something different this week and that was to write down my inch loss goals.  I think it helped because when I measured myself today, I was down on almost every area I measured.  I didn't reach every goal, but just writing it down and seeing it made a difference.  I'm more in a healthy zone this week.

I am also working to increase my water intake. Yesterday I drank 8 cups of water, plus some herbal tea.  Since that's mostly water, I count that as well.  My goal is 12 cups.  I really think the water helps.

I lost a little over 3 1/2".  Woo hoo!

Setbacks

This is taken from my other blog:

Mark was out of town last week--preliminary work on the Cedar City temple.  He worked out of Salt Lake and I stayed home.  Silly me, thinking I could eat a little bit of ice cream and stay on my program.  (It was Rocky Road, by the way, not even my most favorite).  I bought it for Mark, but he didn't have any.

About 1/2 way through the half-gallon carton, while watching TV (always a big mistake!), I decided enough was enough.  I threw the rest away (it was mostly marshmallow anyway, ugh).

So, when we went out to dinner last night and he expressed his desire for some of his Rocky Road ice cream, I had to confess that there wasn't any left. (sigh)

I'm happy to say I ate much better for the rest of the week.

It’s been interesting trying to find places to eat out that offer gluten free choices.  Last night we went to Pei Wei.  They had a sweet and sour that was gluten free.  It was pretty good.

I'm not really expecting to lose any inches from last week, but I'll still measure myself tomorrow.  So...moving on...

Changes

When I measured myself last week, I had lost three inches.  This week, I managed to pretty much regain that loss, so compared with what I posted the first of July the measurements are pretty much the same except my abdomen measurement is down to 41 1/8.

This gluten free is a bit trickier than I expected and I'm learning there are good gluten free choices and not so good.  This is a journey, so each challenge and set back only adds to my knowledge.  I'll figure it out and it will all come together for my good and success.

Gluten Free

I found out probably over two years ago that I was gluten sensitive.  My doctor told me if I stayed off of gluten for a year I would probably be able to go back to eating it again.  The problem was, I never stayed away from it for long.  I don't have extreme symptoms when I eat wheat or other grains containing gluten.  It's more bloating and I notice I sneeze more (strange, but true) and I'm more gassy.

What has convinced me to finally go gluten free is learning that our modern wheat, which is supposed to be the best grain for humans, is not really wheat at all.  It's been scientifically messed with and modified so dramatically that it has become frankenfood.  Why would anyone do this?  Because they wanted greater plant yield, resistant to insects, more pliable for baking etc.  The sad thing is no one took into account what this new grain would do to the human body.  Well, here is some of what it causes:

celiac disease
high blood sugar
acid reflux
bowel urgency
joint pain
leg swelling
migraine headaches
skin rashes
moodiness
sleeplessness
dementia, etc.
(Taken from Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight Cookbook, William Davis, MD, p24)

I know, I know it's hard to believe.  It's taken me this long to finally get it.  But don't take my word for it, do your own research.  What I've noticed on myself this past week is my face looks thinner and I've lost 6 pounds.  I've been really tired, but I'm wondering if there is a bit of cleansing going on.  I will continue to monitor my energy levels and other symptoms.

YouFit

Well, I joined a gym last Monday.  I have to admit I've struggled to exercise consistently here at home.  I had a consultation with the manager who did a weight workout with me.  I found out that I have 46% body fat!  Wow that was not what I was expecting.  : (
